The Cat

We were talking about theology in the living room                                                                                                                        and the cat was cleaning himself on a green satin sofa.                                                                                                                  He was white with a red spot                                                                                                                                                                    on his tail — a feminine caprice.                                                                                                                                                          “And the problem of evil?”                                                                                                                                                                        He kept on cleaning himself,                                                                                                                                                                then fell asleep for a long time,                                                                                                                                                       although he must have been dreaming                                                                                                                                               for his tail was moving,                                                                                                                                                                     forming questions.
